Content (Syllabus outline): |
This course upgrades the previous general, basic and broader understanding of diplomacy (the origin, development and definition, special diplomacies, diplomacy and globalization, outstanding Slovene multilateral projects, diplomatic organization and its processes, diplomatic and consular law, protocol and diplomacy as a profession, security and protection of diplomatic work, history of the Slovene diplomacy, future of diplomacy) and deepens its selective and focused interdisciplinary understanding. The concrete selection of discussed topics depends on the previous knowledge of PhD candidates and on their thesis area/interes. It reaches out to some other fields like sociology, political sciences, communication and organization sciences. It focuses on historical and comparative research and understanding of the relations between state – diplomacy – social and historical situation as well as on understanding of diplomacy as an institution of the international society. At this point it introduces students to sociology of diplomacy. Furthermore, it brings into the research area also innovation in diplomatic practice (like e-diplomacy) and to with diplomacy recently related fields like diplomacy and literature. It also particularly takes into account contemplation on diplomacies of new small states after the end of the Cold War. |
