Content:
Organisation and tasks of the police. European legal frameworks for policing. Supervision of police work. Legal relations of the police to other state authorities and to local communities. Police powers.
Objectives and competencies:
In this course students get acquainted with the organisation and tasks of the police, the legal status of the police, European legal frameworks for policing, control over the work of the police, legal relations of the police to other state authorities and to local communities, legal bases for policing, and forms and methods of police work. This course helps students to get to know, understand and interpret the organisation and tasks of the police, its domestic and European legal status, control over its work, its relations with other state authorities and local communities, the legal basis and forms of policing.
Intended learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding of the following concepts: Organisation and tasks of the police. European legal frameworks for policing. Supervision of police work. Legal relations of the police to other state authorities and to local communities. Police powers.
Teaching methods
The course will be implemented in the form of lectures, seminars, discussions, case studies, experiential exercises, individual projects, group work and individual consultations with the lecturer.
