To present, elaborate and teach understanding of diplomacy as a skill, profession, activity and process of implementing as well as of co-creation of foreign policy. The course is structured in three parts. Firstly, definition, origin and development of diplomacy (phases/periods), with a special emphasis on relation between diplomacy and globalization with a reference to international management. We also present and elaborate outstanding Slovene multilateral projects as well as the EU diplomacy (EEAS). Secondly, special diplomacies, where we focus primarily on economic, military, cultural, public and environmental diplomacies. We discuss their origin, development and current trends. We also discuss relations between diplomacy and literature, diplomacy and entertainment industry as well as e-diplomacy (social media and digitalization). Thirdly, we discuss diplomatic organization, its structure, elements and processes (observing, reporting, protocol, visits, negotiation) and the issue of equal opportunities in diplomacy. Throughout the lectures a special emphasis will be on synergy between diplomacy and management in the 21. century diplomacy.
